chain link bracelets with colorful woven accents have been popping up all over the place, such as on the LN-CC website. Aurelie Bidermann’s Do Brazil bracelets are stunning, yes, but oh so pricey. they take the friendship bracelet to a whole new level. here is a way to create your own for a price that fits any budget.
what you will need:
– a chain curb link bracelet – embroidery thread – 2 bobby pins – a pair of scissors
cut 2 sets of 15 strands of the thread, each strand the length four times the length of the bracelet. knot all of the threads at the top, leaving youself about 2 inches of slack. pin each set of strands with your bobby pins which will help you to pull the threads through the chain given you the weave. lay both sets of threads to the left of the bracelet. pull the first color of thread (coral in the pictures) from under the first link, and over the top of the left side.
lay the second color (blue in the pictures) over the first (coral). pull the second color under the same link and over the top left once again. repeat the steps moving on to the next link: put the first color (coral) on top of the second color (blue) and pull it out from under the second link and over the top left. lay the second color (blue) on top of the first color (coral) and pull it out from under the secondnd link and over the top left again.
depending on how large the links of your bracelet are, you may want to weave the threads through each link more than once. the pictures show each link woven twice.
repeat the steps until you have woven through the whole bracelet. tie a knot at the end, and trim the excess threads.
